New International Advisory Board Members Announcement FREE

The Archives is pleased to announce the appointment of the following distinguished surgeons to our International Advisory Board: Juan I. Arcelus, MD, PhD; Kevin C. P. Conlon, MA, MCh, MBA, FRCSI; Marco Del Chiaro, MD, PhD; and Dimitrios A. Linos, MD, PhD.

Juan I. Arcelus, MD, PhD, received his medical degree and obtained his PhD specializing in thrombosis from the University of Granada School of Medicine in Spain. He completed his residency in general and gastrointestinal surgery at the University Hospital of Granada. Dr Arcelus completed a research fellowship in thrombosis from Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. He is presently a professor of surgery at the University of Granada School of Medicine and is an attending staff member in the Department of Surgery at the Hospital Universitario Virgen de las Nieves in Granada, Spain. Dr Arcelus specializes in venous thromboembolism in general and orthopedic surgery patients.

Kevin C. P. Conlon, MA, MCh, MBA, FRCSI, received his medical degree from University College Dublin in Ireland and his master of surgery degree from the National University of Ireland. He received his master of business administration degree from Columbia University, New York, New York. Dr Conlon is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland. He completed his residency in general surgery at Washington University in St Louis, Missouri, and a research fellowship in surgical oncology and metabolism at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York, New York. He was associate chair of the Department of Surgery at Memorial Sloan-Kettering before returning to Ireland, where he is presently chair and professor of surgery at Trinity College Dublin. Dr Conlon is a surgical oncologist specializing in upper gastrointestinal cancer, particularly gastric and pancreatic malignancies.

Marco Del Chiaro, MD, PhD, received his medical degree from Pisa University, Italy, where he also completed his residency in general and transplant surgery. He received his PhD degree in new technologies for health from the same institution. Dr Del Chiaro is presently an assistant professor of surgery in the Division of Surgery, Department of Clinical Science, Intervention, and Technology at Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden. Dr Del Chiaro is a member of the council of the European Pancreatic Club and the United European Gastroenterology Federation's Future Trends Committee, and he is the founder and coordinator of the Italian Registry of Familial Pancreatic Cancer. He is a hepatobiliary surgeon specializing in pancreatic diseases, transplantation, and robotic surgery.

Dimitrios A. Linos, MD, PhD, received his medical degree from the University of Athens Medical School, Greece. He continued his education as a research and clinical fellow at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, and then completed his residency at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine and Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He was later conferred his PhD degree from the University of Athens Medical School. Dr Linos is presently a professor of surgery at St George’s, University of London Medical School at the University of Nicosia, Cyprus. He is also a consultant in surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital and a lecturer in surgery at Harvard Medical School. Dr Linos is a general surgeon specializing in endocrine and laparoscopic surgery.
