Every clinic should possess two requirements; it must provide efficient means of diagnosis and effective methods of treatment.
In presenting this clinic for your consideration, it will be my purpose to suggest the utilization of certain neglected means of diagnosis and to urge the use of methods of treatment calculated to be of greatest service to the greatest number of the profession.
In the treatment of injuries, particularly of those in the vicinity of joints, we should avoid the diagnosis of sprain. That diagnosis should be eliminated, if by the term one understands the laceration of ligaments about joints. It is well known that the small bony prominences such as the malleoli, turbercle of the tibia and the like have less tensile strength than the ligaments, hence bony prominences are torn away from the shaft before a ligament will tear.
