ABSTRACT

In the communication on infraclavicular venipuncture (Mogil et al: Archives95:320-324 [Aug] 1967), several errors, omissions, and inconsistencies went undetected until the final presentation. They are as follows: (1) the study was done at the Department of Surgery, Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia; (2) the first sentence of the third paragraph of column 2 on page 323 should read: "Any mechanical interference with venous return in the SVC produces a false rise in CVP."; (3) the first sentence in the paragraph immediately following should read: "On the other hand, a massive pulmonary embolism or the presence of tricuspid stenosis would indeed produce a high CVP."; and (4) Longerbeam is the correct spelling for the first author in reference 2 (and wherever in the text the misspelling occurred).
