To the Editor.—I am writing to you in connection with your editorial by Dr. Taymor entitled "A Medical Case for Abortion Liberalization."
Dr. Taymor in his introduction notes that "... restrictions against therapeutic abortion are rapidly crumbling in the Western World." I am not sure whether or not restrictions crumble but if they do, there is a derivative adjective which aptly describes the resulting state of affairs. Among the reasons for the changes listed by Dr. Taymor are "awakening awareness of the right of a woman to judge her own reproductive destiny." Well now, she has always had the right to say "No," and the exercise of this right would largely eliminate the problem. Also listed is "concern for the psychic and social well-being of an unwanted child." Why not let the child live and make his own judgment? He might not think psychic and social well-being were worth dying
