ABSTRACT

Clinical Neurosurgery continues and, in fact, surpasses the outstanding editorial and scientific accomplishment of previous volumes.

The proceedings of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons held in Denver in October 1972 are presented in great detail; and as the primary emphasis of the Congress at this meeting was diseases of the spinal cord, volume 20 presents a unique body of information not readily available to the neurosurgical community. The initial portion of the book deals with the presidential address, a biography of Francis Murphy, MD, the honored guest, and two clinical articles by Dr. Murphy: one on his personal experience with lumbar disc surgery and the other on his experience with myelography abnormalities in brachial root avulsion injuries. This segment of the book may well be the most valuable, as it gives a great deal of historical insight into one of the giants of neurosurgery and draws from Dr. Murphy's personal
