This book is an excellent guide for the beginner in vascular scanning and a much needed addition to the vascular technology literature. The direct and informal style used by the author is didactic and easy to read. The reader is taken through the principles of vascular ultrasonography in a systematic, progressive fashion, from the most basic principles and maneuvers to the more complex concepts and tasks.
The first section of the book covers the terminology, scan planes, anatomy, instrumentation principles, and setup—knowledge required before the actual process of scanning is initiated. The student is wisely cautioned about the frustrations inherent in acquiring the new skill of vascular scanning and is provided with a realistic view of the learning curves involved with the different techniques.
