ABSTRACT

The 15th World Congress of Collegium Internationale Chirurgiae Digestivae (CICD) was held in Seoul, Korea, September 11–14, 1996, and was combined with the 12th International Seminar of the World Health Organization Collaborating Center for Gastric Cancer.

The CICD was founded almost 30 years ago to provide a forum in which digestive surgeons worldwide could present and discuss new research developments and controversies and review the major topics in the many fields of digestive surgery. It holds a worldwide surgical meeting every 2 years.

This CICD meeting in Seoul was a successful project for which planning began 5 years ago. This year, the meeting was held in conjunction with the 12th International Seminar and the 6th General Meeting of the World Health Organization Collaborating Center for Gastric Cancer (September 9-11, 1996).
