A case of chylopericardium following anastomosis between the ascending aorta and right pulmonary artery is described and cause and management of this rare complication are discussed. The chylous pericardial effusion was detected on the 15th postoperative day. Treatment consisted of drainage and subsequent surgical narrowing of the anastomosis. The child recovered and was well three months later.
