The Archives of Surgery has a unique relationship with JAMA because both medical journals are part of the Archives family of journals. Manuscripts of surgical interest that are accepted by JAMA are often forwarded to Archives of Surgery for consideration of a From JAMA commentary. An Archives reviewer will write the commentary, which will then be published along with the JAMA abstract in the Archives. Conversely, manuscripts accepted by the Archives that have a broader medical interest are often forwarded to JAMA for consideration of a From the Archives commentary.
