A standard operation—pylorus-preserving pancreaticoduodenectomy—has evolved in the past decade to a high level of applicability in many centers, with a low morbidity and mortality. Is there a role for other operations for pathology in the head of the pancreas? The authors of the current article present their experience with 15 patients having more conservative resections of the pancreatic head with 2 other operative techniques. Are there specific reasons we should perform these procedures based on pathology or factors of operative technique?
