Rejected manuscripts will no longer be returned to the authors owing to the increasing cost of postage and the widespread use of computers and photocopy machines. To ensure confidentiality, the manuscripts will be destroyed. Outside peer reviewers are directed to destroy these manuscripts after their review to protect the authors' confidentiality and ownership. Original figures and photographs, however, will be returned to the authors.
