RT Journal A1 Heitmiller RF T1 IMpact of hospital volume on long-term survival after esophageal cancer surgery—invited critique JF Archives of Surgery JO Archives of Surgery YR 2007 FD February 1 VO 142 IS 2 SP 118 OP 118 DO 10.1001/archsurg.142.2.118 UL http://dx.doi.org/10.1001/archsurg.142.2.118 AB Operative mortality for HVHs and LVHs were 4% and 9%, respectively. This did not reach statistical significance (P = .09). Likewise, there was no statistical difference in the 30-day, 1-year, 3-year, or 5-year survival figures between the 2 groups. The authors conclude that hospital volume does not affect long-term survival.
