As the assessment of this approach matures, medium- and long-term outcomes have begun to reach the level of publication. Consistent with other recent work,1- 3 Lai and coworkers demonstrate a midterm survival comparable to that of the open technique. These results support the ability of minimal-access surgery to be performed in an oncologically sound manner for the resection of primary HCC.
