However, as these endoscopic interventions gain wider acceptance, it is important to critically appraise them from a global perspective, taking into account the long-term outcome. From a surgeon's standpoint, it is essential when considering endoscopic removal of a large colorectal polyp not only to understand the immediate technical outcome but to gain an appreciation for the long-term results in terms of recurrence and the need for subsequent intervention, whether endoscopic or surgical.
