AB The persistent left superior vena cava draining into the left atrium or left side of the common atrium is a rare anomaly. It may exist in one of several variant forms and is usually associated with another cardiac anomaly. We have recently encountered such an aberrant vena cava-left atrial communication coexisting with an equally unusual cardiac defect, the double-outlet right ventricle. This case is presented because a review of the literature fails to reveal a report of a similar case, and to illustrate the difficulties inherent in differentiating this anomaly from other similar but less complex cardiac defects. Emphasis is given to the fact that this anomaly, even though complex, is amenable to total correction.Report of a Case
