AB To the Editor.—I read with interest Humphrey and Rush's publication on the arterial infusion of tumors of the chest wall and the base of the neck in the Archives (96:810-813 [May] 1968). They allude to my method of intraaortic infusion of lung carcinoma as a modification of the method described by Newton. I was not aware of Newton's work. My experience, however, originated in 1960 (two years before Newton's publication) and was first presented as a scientific exhibit, "Chemotherapy of Cancer," at the clinical meeting of the American Medical Association, Washington, DC, 1960 (received first Hull Award).In 1962, at scientific exhibits1 and in publications,2 I presented a method of the intraarterial infusion of selected antineoplastic agents into any regional area of the body, employing percutaneous cannulation techniques which included tumors of the chest wall (breast) and the base of the neck—selected areas supplied by the subclavian
