AB • Abrupt interruption of the suprarenal inferior vena cava can have dramatic consequences and can be difficult to repair successfully. In the case reported, an excellent result was obtained by a cavaportal anastomosis, with minimal consequences on renal and hepatic functions.(Arch Surg 114:628-631, 1979)
