A modified cystic duct clamp and a Potts-Smith scissors have expedited the intubation. The catheter has proved to be a versatile tool during biliary surgery, being used in different technical maneuvers. Its value as a transcystic duct drain has been demonstrated in a selected group of patients.(Arch Surg 114:749-751, 1979)
