News items of appointments, promotions and developments in the field of surgery and related disciplines are invited.Dr Miller Appointed.—Leonard Miller, MD, has been appointed chairman and John Rhea Barton Professor of Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. At the same time, Dr Miller has been named chief of surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and director of the Harrison Department of Surgical Research. The new chairman received his MD degree from the University of Pennsylvania and his undergraduate degree from Yale University. After completing an internship and residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Dr Miller was awarded fellowships by the National Institutes of Health and the American Cancer Society.Revised
