TY - JOUR T1 - ARchives of surgery board bids adieu to catherine deangelis, md, as editor in chief of jama AU - Freischlag J Y1 - 2011/12/01 N1 - 10.1001/archsurg.2011.1049 JO - Archives of Surgery SP - 1346 EP - 1346 VL - 146 IS - 12 N2 - In Chicago at our annual meeting this past July, we honored and roasted Catherine DeAngelis, MD, as she leaves her post as editor in chief of JAMA. Many spoke of her accomplishments as editor in chief and of all the things she taught us with her words of wisdom over the years. Many were creative in their comments, but none were as creative as Jonathan Hiatt, MD, as he read a poem he wrote in her honor. We have included his poem Articlealong with a picture taken by Cathy's husband, James Harris, of Jon reciting the poem at the dinner (Figure). Peculiar but not surprising is the image of Cathy that appears in the mirror just to the side of Jon—once again demonstrating that Cathy is always with us . . . and always will be with us.
