Howard Bauchner, MD, is the Editor in Chief of JAMA and Scientific Publications and is ultimately responsible for all of the Archives journals. Julie Freischlag, MD, is the Chief Editor of Archives of Surgery. I serve as the surgical contributing editor for JAMA following a several-year tenure on the editorial board of Archives of Surgery. The main responsibility of the surgical contributing editor is to facilitate publication of important articles on surgical research and practice in JAMA, including handling manuscripts on surgical topics that are submitted to JAMA and reaching out to authors to encourage submission of high-quality papers to JAMA and Archives of Surgery.
