TY - JOUR T1 - THe new living heart AU - Mattox KL Y1 - 1998/05/01 N1 - JO - Archives of Surgery SP - 576 EP - 576 VL - 133 IS - 5 N2 - Twenty years have passed since the publication of the first book by DeBakey and Gotto, titled The Living Heart. The purpose of this publication was to provide laypeople with an understanding of heart disease. In the ensuing 20 years, there have been innumerable advances in understanding heart disease as well as a logarithmic increase of available therapies. The New Living Heart, therefore, is not merely a revision, but a new book containing current information to assist the layperson in understanding heart disease and the vascular system, including anatomy and physiology, diagnostic tests, congenital abnormalities, the medical and surgical treatment of cardiovascular disease, transplantation, and cardiac rehabilitation. Special sections on women and heart disease and a heart-healthy lifestyle are also included. SN - 0004-0010 M3 - doi: UR - http://dx.doi.org/ ER -
