Edited by Philip Gordon and Santhat Nivatvongs, this second edition is an appropriate extension and revision of the initial publication. The authors deserve significant credit for the quality and comprehensive coverage of diseases of this anatomical area. Unlike other similar presentations, the authors are major contributors with infrastructural support from Drs Schouten, Smith, Bubrick, and Rolstad. Active author involvement makes this volume special and appealing; they have personally authored or coauthored 39 chapters involving more than 1400 pages. More active author participation, which reflects clinical depth and experience, should be encouraged for other books as well. This is not a pocket edition and cannot be carried around in your briefcase or duffel bag.
