Gerald M. Fried, MD, CM, FRCSC, received his medical and surgical degrees from McGill University and completed his residency in general surgery at Montreal General Hospital and Ohio State University Hospital. He completed a fellowship in gastrointestinal physiology at the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston. Dr Fried is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada. He is presently the Adair Family Professor and chair of the Department of Surgery at McGill University and surgeon-in-chief of the McGill University Health Centre.
