This conception establishes a direct connection between the development of chronic ulcer and the destruction of the trophic centers. Experiments performed by Burdenko and Mogilnitzky,10 Pigalew11 and Skoblo12 (from the laboratory directed by Speransky13) and consisting in infliction of various kinds of trauma on the region of the diencephalon have created a new basis for the aforementioned theory. As regards the pathologic picture presented by the autonomic nervous system in cases of peripheral dystrophy, Mogilnitzky, Sipovskiy14 and also Zajewloschin SN - 0272-5533 M3 - doi: 10.1001/archsurg.1939.01200110022003 UR - http://dx.doi.org/10.1001/archsurg.1939.01200110022003 ER -
