Since it incorporates techniques in such fields as neurosurgery, maxillofacial surgery, oral surgery, and microvascular surgery, the practicing head and neck surgical oncologist needs to refine existing technical skills and constantly learn new ones. This volume, designed for the aspiring head and neck surgeon, attempts to fill that information gap; unfortunately, it only partly succeeds.The volume is a photographic atlas of head and neck surgical procedures categorized by anatomic regions. It begins with some perfunctory chapters on operating room setup, anesthetic considerations, and basic surgical techniques.The remaining chapters show intraoperative photographs of commonly performed operations, supplemented by a clearly written text. For the most part, the photographs, taken by the author, nicely document the procedure and take the reader through a clear description of how he does it.
